Human Equations, SIMSR's Annual HR Event is being organized on December 11th 2008. The event aims at enlightening the students with current industry HR practices and brings out a fresh look to the current problems. This year's theme is "EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT".
For several years now, 'employee engagement' has been a hot topic in corporate circles. It's a buzz phrase that has captured the attention of workplace observers and HR managers, as well as the executive suite. And it's a topic that employers and employees alike think they understand, yet can't articulate very easily. No wonder it turns out that all the employee engagement research undertaken over the past few years has defined the term differently, and as a result, come up with different key drivers and implications. Happy employees are better equipped to handle workplace relationships, stress, and change, according to the national Gallup Management Journal survey (2006). Companies that understand this, and help employees improve their well-being, can boost their productivity.
Human Equations 2008 endeavors to learn from the experts how they interpret employee engagement and what are some of the practices that they follow in their organizations to make the employees feel engaged and happy. The events include a panel discussion, a case study based discussion, a HR simulation event and a paper presentation.
~~~~~~~~~~~ EVENTS ~~~~~~~~~~~
PANEL DISCUSSION
The theme for the panel discussion is in tandem with the central theme of the event. The discussion involving 4-5 entrepreneurs and HR experts would be on ‘Employee Engagement in Start Up Organizations.’ Each panelist will provide the audience with some insights on the tactics that his/her organization is using in order to keep the workforce engaged and happy, with live examples of situations that have been handled at their respective organizations.
CASE STUDY BASED DISCUSSION
This would be a lecture by the key note speaker on the theme in his/her organization i.e. how that particular organization looks at employee engagement and the successful practices followed along with live examples to show how such practices have benefitted the organization.
PAPER PRESENTATION
This would be an inter-collegiate event wherein the teams would have to submit a paper on a topic. As of now, there are two suggestions for the topic
* ‘Motivation in the Mumbai Police Force.’
* Employee Engagement challenges in the retail sector.
This would be a submission based on which 5 teams would be selected. These teams would have to present their paper in front of a panel who will judge them.
HR SIMULATION GAME
The details for this have still to be worked out.
POINTS TO REMEMBER;
* The event is from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.
* The Key Speaker address and the Panel discussion would be pre lunch while the paper presentation and Simulation Game would be post lunch. This is decided as of now but we can also reverse that after a discussion on the same.
* The invitation to participate would go to colleges across India but the details of the accommodation and food of the outstation teams have to be worked out.
* Also, this time, the college is open to sponsorships, so the plan for the same needs to be worked out.
